How to Summon Familiars in Runescape

Want to know how to summon familiars? Here is the basic information you will need to know to get started.

1. First you must complete the Wolf Whistle Quest to begin using the summoning skill. Start the quest by speaking to Pikkupstix in Taverly.

2. Create a summoning pouch. You will need a empty pouch and a list of ingredients needed for the familiar you want to create. For example: To create a spirit wolf pouch you will need 7 spirit shards, a gold charm and wolf bones.

3. Now you will need to take your ingredients to a summoning obelisk. These are located in different locations around Runescape. You can also use these obelisks to recharge your summoning level.

Taverly - Beneath Pikkipstix's house
Gu'Tanoth - Before the gates into Gu'Tanoth
Mort Myre - Nature spirits grotto
Isafdar - Inside underground pass
Brimhaven - West of Brimhaven
Piscatoris - South of fishing colony
Kharidian Desert - South-West of Pollnivneach

4. Now you can summon your familiar by right clicking on the pouch and selecting 'Summon'. Make sure you are in an area that allows summoning.

Falador (excluding the White Knights' Castle)
Lumbridge (excluding Lumbridge Castle courtyard)
The Grand Exchange
Seers' Village
The Barrows

The creators of the new Runescape summoning skill have released more exciting information about the upcoming changes to the game. There will be a wide variety of pets and familiars to summon for help in all types of skills. When these familiars are summoned there will be a time limit for how long they will stay summoned. The higher your summoning level, the longer your familiar will stay summoned. A summoning energy meter will be added to the game which will be vary similar to the prayer level meter. Summoning energy will needs to be recharged at an obelisk. The familiars will add a great deal of power to your character. "Summoning gives you the potential to be more powerful in combat, so it's only right that it contributes to your Combat level, which is a guide to your character's overall combat ability," says RuneScape Content's Paul. Summoning will add to your combat level increasing the maximum from 126 to 138.

A new Runescape summoning skill is due to be released in January 2008 with much excitement. The developers are not yet giving away all the details about this highly anticipated skill until its release in January but they are giving us clues as to what the skill will involve. It seems as though you will need life runes and eggs from birds nests to summon different animals to help you in combat and non- combat tasks. The types of animals that can be summoned is not yet known.
It would be nice to be able to summon animals to help you defeat other monsters in the game. I wonder how long the summoning will last. Will there be a time limit to how long your animal can be summoned or will you be able to put it away after you use it to let it recharge? The price for these summoning eggs will surely be very high in the beginning when all of the rich Runescapers will surely pay top dollar to level their skill first. This will be good though for the woodcutter but The price for logs will probably drop because everyone will want to sell their logs at the same time and when this happens there are always bargains to be found. I am still not sure how the life runes will be made. I bet the developers will tell us soon. There are two more development diaries which will be released by the developers of this exciting new skill before its release in January.
